This project was a joint venture between BMW Motorrad USA, RawHyde Adventures, and Southern Adventist University: Outdoor Leadership Department.
The trip was conceived of by 14 students at Southern as a possible way to fulfill the requirements of their senior-capstone class, Adventure Leadership. This project was a joint venture between BMW Motorrad USA, RawHyde Adventures, and Southern Adventist University: Outdoor Leadership Department.
The trip was conceived of by 14 students at Southern as a possible way to fulfill the requirements of their senior-capstone class, Adventure Leadership. Where pervious students had planned relatively easy camping trip, or the like, these students conceive, planned, and executed a trip that is unparalleled by any university class--anywhere. Having asking some motorcycle industry media outlets, it does appears this trip was the first time a university used motorcycles for college credit.
After planning, the students sought sponsorship from BMW Motorrad USA. BMW jumped at the opportunity and provided each rider with a new BMW GS-series bikes, as well as providing a trainer and guide from the BMW off-road motorcycle training center in Castaic, CA, RawHyde Adventures.
Team leaders, Tyler Morgan and Jessica Ewing, trekked along with their fellow classmates to see the beauty of the CA dessert in spring. With them was their guide from RawHyde Adventures and BMW, Lance Thomas, as well as the support team/vehicle and film crew.
All together, fourteen riders journeyed overland 2000 miles; from the desserts north of LA to Death Valley and then back again--all atop BMW GS-series motorcycles.Other creators -
